This long weekend, sit out with a cool drink by the pool and write a poem, a short story, a memory or whatever comes to mind. The only rule. Keep it to about a page and somehow include a gift.
A gift is never just a simple gift. You've heard it said that it's the thought that counts, to me that means that a gift is a symbol of something lasting. Every year I give myself a birthday gift, but it's not about treating myself to a new toy. My gifts to myself are teaching me to value myself and to celebrate my life. You don't have to give a gift to yourself but write about a gift, given or received, is it a blessing or a curse? What is the meaning under the wrapping?
Write a poem, prose, flash fiction or whatever including some kind of gift. Send the piece to jmprescottblog@gmail.com by noon EST Thursday, July 7th. The best piece will be featured here on Monday, July 11th.
I dare you.
