off in my own little dreamworld....

Missing my work being published is not something new. Editors can't always tell when a piece will be published when the publication is online. So writers have to be vigilant and not, as I tend to be, off in their own little dream world.

The latest article I missed being posted was a first for me. Vancouver Boutique Empowers Women includes the first interview I did live and in person. I've been conducting interview for a while, the first published interview was Katie Keys, whom I interviewed for this blog over a year ago. Katie was in England and I was in Canada, so that interview was conducted over Gtalk. Every interview since has been through email. However, when I interviewed Mariana Garcia from My Sister's Closet we did that interview the boutique. I was nervous.

In an online interview, the interviewee writes her answers, so I have no fear of misquoting. In this case, I had to be diligent in my notes, not only listen and think of intelligent questions but also make sure I got down what she said verbatim.

I haven't heard from Mariana as to whether I represented her exactly as she presented herself, but then I was late telling her that the article was published. I hope I paid more attention in the interview than I did to my publication date.
